underwood project: master bedroom

A master bedroom should be a haven, a respite, a place to go to get away from the real world. It’s that place where you can go and lock the door and steal a few minutes from your kids :) I’ve definitely noticed that the master bedroom is typically the last room in a home that my clients want to tackle.

However, these particular clients came to me and we started in their home with the master. These are my kind of people.

We took this master bedroom and broke it into zones. The room really is a large size so we knew it needed more than a bed. The sitting area across from the bed was the perfect solution here, as well as using the large scale Ballard Designs Hartwell Upholstered Bench at the foot of the bed.

To add warmth, we added width and a half drapery panels with leading edge tape. I love adding drapery to a room because it instantly changes the way the space looks. In fact, the drapery panels were the first thing we installed here and the clients were already in love with the transformation!

This relaxing master bedroom is calming, neutral, BUT still family friendly. All textiles are are cleanable and not precious which is perfect for a family with young children!

And the icing on the top? This massive, amazing mirror!!!
