stylized spaces: book shelves
Shelves can probably be one of the most frustrating and time consuming projects when it comes to designing. It is especially hard when you have multiple shelving units and book cases, you either must love books or have a bunch of knick knacks to fill the space right? Well don't stress any further. We created a style guide with some helpful tips to help you not only fill in the holes of your shelf but make it aesthetically pleasing too!
If you're not a big reader its quite alright we don't judge! Everyone is different and has either different interests or just not enough time to read so why bother buying a bunch of novels you know will just sit there and collect dust. Shelves can be styled with artwork, candles, plants, little chachkies, baskets, vinyls, and many more! One of the best things about designing this element of your home is it can be ever changing and totally unique. It also is one of the lesser expensive design aspect of your home that can really make a stylistic difference.
A good place to start is to see what personal belongings you already have. What do you absolutely want to keep? What can you do without? It is important to keep those sentimental items and showcase your personality when designing your home. This can be either a favorite book, family photos you love, an old record player handed down to you, or any other hidden gems you treasure! Then after you've selected what you must keep, look at your color scheme and what little holes you have left to fill in your shelves. You can play with height, layers, and color! It is totally up to you!
