Pendant Lights for Kitchen Island

Deciding on pendant lighting for your kitchen can be so fun! There are so many options and directions you can go with! We understand that selecting anything for your home can become overwhelming. It’s hard for us to choose things for our own home too sometimes (that’s why we love helping others love where they live). Let’s go through the process of finding the right pendant lights for your kitchen island!

There are many different things to consider when choosing pendant lights for your kitchen island. Style, material, color, shape, and length!

Style

I feel that the most important way to start designing parts of your home is by stepping back and thinking about what speaks to you and your style. This can be your aesthetic, what brings you joy, and what truly compliments your space. There are so many styles to choose from, but here are some basic styles to choose from: glass pendants, multi-light pendants, drum shade pendants, globe pendants, cord pendants, linear pendants, shade pendants, and lantern pendants. The list goes on and on. Remember to just go with your gut and what you like best! This is your space and you should make it your own.

Material

Many pendant lights are primarily made out of metal, but there are some made by other materials. Glass, Metal, Plastic, Fabric, Wood, and Shell.

Glass gives off a clean and elegant look, but can be expensive compared to plastic or fabric it truly just depends on your style and budget. Glass pendants can also be annoying to clean.

Metal is probably the most popular material for pendant lighting. They are sturdy and go with a good majority of different styles.

Plastic is the lesser expensive option compared to glass or metal, but even though it is plastic it can look elegant and modern.

Fabric brings in a homey and softer vibe to your space. Yes, they may not be as sturdy as the other options, but can still be a pretty solid choice!

Wood pendants will work great for a space that has a more rural setting and cottage-like feel.

Shell pendant light can be a unique alternative selection especially if you have a coastal style.

Color

Of course you can keep it simple with white or black, but an antique brass or even a dark green could really make your kitchen island pop with some color!

Shape/Length

Now the shape and length really depend on the measurements of your space. How tall is your ceiling, how high and long is your island, or do you want a pendant short or long? Be sure to take the right measurements in your kitchen to be positive the light will work perfectly in your space!
